Suggestions for v2.0

Postby Big Wheel » Sun Jul 19, 2009 5:30 pm

Please forgive, if you have seen this idea already. I posted it on another forum where Dink may have seen it. It is posted here, in it's proper place.

For version 2.0, how about making a graphical map form of the trainer. It has already been done, here, but I am sure there is more that can be acheived in this area.
Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular.

Are you asking, what it would look like from a user's perspective, or how it would be programmed?

Answer a, is "click the link" in my first post. It's kinda cool.
Answer b, is probably via client side scripting, which I havn't really dabbled in yet.

It defiantly won't be in the next version, although if you gave each country/area of the map a different rgb colour, with BASIC it is possible to then read the rgb colour value (which would be unique for each country) on mouse input and determine the action that should then be taken.

It would also be possible using relative coordinates although that would be harder to achieve. :ugeek:

The color thing is the most economical way to do it, if you want a second opinion. ;)

If anyone wants an example of how it is used, have a look at the Just BASIC Risk game, which uses it to identify which country is selected:

Neither. How would the countries remain random order if you click the one you want? What if you click only the ones you know, etc.?

I am not sure what exactly you are saying. I imagine it would work more along the model of a map is shown, a country is selected at random by the program and you have to correctly identify the location of that country on the map by clicking on it. Or is could work in reverse by clearing the map of all colour, highlighting/colouring one country and then the user has to name the country etc.

However as mentioned above, anything like that is a long way off.

Also, thanks for the info Jeremy. :ugeek:

I thought we were supposed to identify the capitols of that country not the location of the country on the map.

I see your point, and your question now U/k.

I think what I had in mind, was that the game/tool would say "London", and you would have to click on the map, to show where England Was. Ok, that one might not be too tough, but how about Krakow? Do you know what country that is the capital of? And if you do, can you point to it on a map of Europe? Most British people can't!

Anyway, It was suggested for v2.0, to imply that it was a "would be nice, one day". I wasnt' suggestion I wanted it by Friday.

Thanks, u/k, for asking the right questions, and making me explain myself properly.

Oh I get it now. So you have to know the capitols, and now also the location on the map. Getting harder... :P Mabye there could be settings to have just location or just capitols as well in version 2.1 lol.

I think it'd be best to have the entire map grey, or some other neutral color, and then when the user hovors over a country it surns blue, and the script takes the input from the country the user clicked. Instead of there being a different color for each country.
